Our MDF alcove shelves make a real statement in any room. Made from 25mm or 38mm thick MDF, each shelf is fully bespoke to fit your exact space. Choose from 5 different edging styles and a choice of 5 colour finishes to create your perfect shelf. Unfinished shelves are also available and, should you wish to paint your shelves yourself, you can choose a primed finish.

It’s important to us that your shelves fit perfectly. We all know that walls are rarely 100% straight, that’s why we have a wealth of information available about measuring your recess and fitting your shelves to ensure the perfect fit. Please read our alcove shelf fitting instructions for further information.

Our alcove shelving gives the illusion of a floating alcove shelf, yet is supported by strong, matching walnut battens (included in the price). Alcove shelves that are 200-600mm in length come with two side supporting battens. Alcove shelves that are 600mm and above in length have one long batten for the rear of the shelf and two as side supports. These battens simply attach to the wall and support the weight of the shelf from underneath. The battens are very discreet, just 30mm high and 20mm thick. We also round the bottom of the front-facing battens and stop them 40mm short of the front edge of the shelves, keeping them mostly hidden from view.

As standard, the supporting battens are supplied in the same colour finish as your shelf. If you would prefer that they be supplied unprimed – for example, you may wish to paint them the same colour as your wall – please advise us when ordering.

Please note: We do not pre-drill the screw holes for the battens as standard but can do so on request. Simply inform us where you need the holes positioned (to avoid electrical cables/pipes etc.) and we will do this for you. Screws and rawl plugs are NOT supplied for the supporting battens. For large alcove shelves or shelves that need to take a lot of weight from their contents, we strongly recommend that you use the longest and strongest screws and rawl plugs available.
